What is Yin Yoga 

Yin Yoga is a style of Yoga that was developed as a slower, deeper practice than the more familiar Vinyasa & Ashtanga styles of Yoga. 

In Yin Yoga you should be holding the poses for anything from 1min to 15min. An average of 8 - 10 poses will be completed in a practice. There is no Suyra Namaskar, instead the body should be kept at a cooler internal temperature. 

Popular themes include hip and heart opening poses. 

The style has even adapted to posture names. For example instead of a low lunge, you will be given instructions to come into low dragon pose. Or bound angle pose is referred to as butterfly. 

Yin Yoga is accessible to all levels of practice but teachers should encourage students to use props such as blocks, bolsters and straps to supprt the longer holds.
